Studio Lighting 101! Chicago Portrait Photographer | Jennifer Jackson Photography

i *heart* studio lighting!  i love manipulating light and introducing it to objects and people in order to accentuate or diminish their form…i love soft diffused light and hard, edgy light.  but most of all i love teaching my advanced photography classes the basics of studio lighting using a simplistic arsenal of equipment: two hot lights, a stool, dark grey backdrop, a white bounce, grey card, a 35mm SLR and ilford FP4 b&w film.  
below are just a few samples of some basic lighting setups.  my models were my students and YES, we did this during halloween…
meet amanda.
